A recent Colliers International survey confirms the city fringe is the most popular location for an apartment and demand for three-bedroom apartments more than doubles demand for apartments with one-bedroom. The Apartment Living Survey gathered the views of 170 residential clients, including apartment owner-occupiers, investors and buyers looking to enter the market. It found price and value were the most important considerations when buying an apartment, followed closely by the quality of the building and its finishes and the track record of the developer. Respondents also expressed a strong preference for low strata fees and listed solar photovoltaic panels as the green initiative they found most appealing.
Apartments with two-bedrooms were preferred by 65 per cent of the survey group while apartments with three-bedrooms were the preferred choice of 24 per cent of respondents. Just 10 per cent of the survey group opted for a one-bedroom apartment. According to the survey, the average amount buyers would like to spend on an apartment was $440,000.
The city fringe was the clear winner in terms of the preferred location for an apartment complex and was followed by the CBD, the Swan River, a beachside address and then a suburban location.
